Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026. These terms govern your use of StatementToBooks, operated by Jim Gau Cat LLC, operating as StatementToBooks ("we", "us").
The service
StatementToBooks converts PDF bank statements into transaction CSV files. Extraction runs on our servers together with third-party recognition services, as described on the privacy page. The converter does not categorize transactions and does not provide accounting, tax, or financial advice — what you do with the CSV remains your responsibility and your accountant's.
Plans and quotas
A free tier is available without a card. Paid plans are described on the pricing page with their monthly page quotas and file limits. Failed conversions never count against your quota. We may change plans or pricing with reasonable advance notice to existing subscribers.
Subscription billing and automatic renewal
Paid plans are recurring subscriptions billed in advance — monthly or annually — through Stripe, with automatic renewal unless you cancel before the renewal date. The free tier does not require a card.
Cancellation
You may cancel automatic renewal at any time from account settings through the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period: you keep access until then and are not charged again. Refunds are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Acceptable use
Upload only statements you own or are authorized to process. You may not use the service for unlawful purposes, attempt to disrupt or probe its infrastructure, scrape or bulk-extract beyond your plan quota, or misrepresent extraction results. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without refund where termination results from your breach.
Your files
You retain ownership of your statements and the CSVs produced from them. You grant us the limited right to process uploaded files to provide the service. Files you do not choose to contribute as samples are deleted under the retention policy on the privacy page. Anonymized samples are used only with your explicit opt-in.
Intellectual property
The website, software, branding, and documentation are owned by Jim Gau Cat LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. QuickBooks is a trademark of Intuit Inc.; this service is not affiliated with, sponsored, or endorsed by Intuit.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as available". Extraction is automated and can be wrong — always verify the CSV against the original statement before relying on it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms periodically. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date, and material changes will be announced with reasonable notice.
