Refund and Cancellation Policy

Last updated: July 2026. This policy applies to paid plans purchased from Jim Gau Cat LLC, operating as StatementToBooks.

How billing works

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance through Stripe and renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled before the renewal date. The free tier requires no card and is never charged.

How to cancel

Cancel a paid subscription from account settings through the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period — you keep access until then and will not be charged again. Not using the service does not cancel the subscription.

Refunds for new subscriptions

You may request a refund of your first subscription payment within 14 calendar days of purchase. We may decline requests where the plan was substantially used, where a refund was already issued to you, or in cases of abuse or fraud. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method.

Renewal payments

Renewal payments are non-refundable except where required by law — cancel before your renewal date to avoid the next charge. If a renewal was clearly accidental, contact us within 7 days of the charge; exceptions are at our discretion. Annual plans are billed for the full year in advance and are not prorated on cancellation, except under the 14-day new-subscription window above or where required by law.

Failed conversions and quota

Failed conversions never count against your quota, so a file that cannot be parsed is not a charge dispute — it simply does not use your pages. If you believe quota was counted incorrectly, contact us and we will correct it.

How to request a refund

Email hi@statementtobooks.com with your account email, the charge date and amount, and the Stripe invoice number if you have it. We aim to respond within 3–5 business days. Approved refunds are issued through Stripe; your bank determines when the amount appears on your statement.

Before opening a dispute

Please contact us before initiating a card dispute — most billing issues are resolved faster by email. Note that a dispute does not cancel an active subscription; cancel it separately as described above. Nothing in this policy limits refund or cancellation rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
