Coverage matrix
Supported documents
We would rather return an honest failure than a CSV that looks fine but cannot be trusted. This matrix is the exact truth about what the converter handles today — updated as real statements are tested.
| Document | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Text-based PDF bank statements | Supported | Uploaded for automated extraction; transactions can be downloaded as Excel or CSV. |
| Single amount column or debit/credit columns | Supported | Both layouts extract to a single signed amount column. |
| Statements with a running balance column | Supported | The balance is included as printed; it is not independently verified. |
| Multi-page statements | Supported | Up to 20MB per file. Page limits are 5 on Free, 10 on Starter, 20 on Growth, and unlimited on Business. |
| Scanned or image-only PDFs | Not supported | The current product does not provide OCR. Use a text-based statement PDF instead. |
| Password-protected or corrupted PDFs | Not supported | Remove the password in your PDF viewer first; damaged files are rejected. |
| Every bank, language, and layout | Not claimed | Unsupported files get a specific failure reason — never a guessed CSV. |
| Excel and CSV export | Supported | Successful conversions keep the extracted rows and source-page references in both formats. |
| QBO export for QuickBooks Online | Supported | Available for single-account statements with a readable closing or running balance. |
| Bulk conversion | Supported | Select up to 50 PDFs. Each file is processed and downloaded independently. |
| OFX / QFX export | Not available | The current QuickBooks path produces QBO only. |
| Reconciliation, balance verification, categorization | Out of scope | We extract transactions. Categorization and import decisions stay with you or your accountant. |
File limits
- PDF only, up to 20MB. Page limits are 5 on Free, 10 on Starter, 20 on Growth, and unlimited on Business.
- Empty, corrupted, or encrypted files are rejected before processing.
- Extraction runs on our servers and third-party recognition services — your PDF is uploaded when you convert it.
When your file cannot be converted
You get a specific reason — unsupported layout, damaged file, unreadable scan, page limit exceeded, or a system error — never a fake success. Failed conversions never count against your quota, and you can retry or send us feedback. You may also explicitly opt in to contribute an anonymized sample so we can improve coverage; nothing is kept for that purpose without that separate consent.
